The Georgia Southern University women’s rifle team took to the range over the

weekend at the Citadel Invitational after being on hiatus for over two months and

posted impressive results.

Despite not shooting competitively since Nov. 19 the Eagles showed up on Saturday

at the Citadel Invitational and had one of their best performances of the year.

The team totaled for their third highest score of the season at 2205, led by three

shooters with over 550 points individually.

Freshman Kathryn Youngblood was the leader with a score of 554, posting her third

consecutive match scoring over 550. She was followed by junior Becky Collier and

redshirt freshman Emmy Johnson who each posted a score of 552.

After a solid first day of competition the Eagles returned on Sunday looking to build

on their success. They did so by putting up their best score of the season, a 2240

with four players shooting over 550.

Youngblood tied her season best score with 568, followed by a great performance

from Collier with 563. Johnson had another solid performance with a score of 555.

Redshirt freshman Tori Lewis also racked up a score of 554.

The Eagles will head to North Georgia for their next competition on Feb. 15.
