STATESBORO — ShuttleGus, a free safe ride program offered by the Georgia Southern Student Government Association, resumed operation Friday night and will continue through the rest of the semester.

The ShuttleGus runs every Friday and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on all weekends except for holiday weekends, according to Haleigh Baker, SGA graduate assistant.

Students can call the ShuttleGus number during its hours of operation and receive a free ride anywhere within the Statesboro city limits, no questions asked.

Student organizations operate the ShuttleGus program, each taking one weekend per semester. They must operate it during all hours of operation on both Friday and Saturday night on their assigned weekend.

Organizations that apply and meet all requirements receive $300 in funding for their organization, according to the GS website.

ShuttleGus will continue to operate until the weekend before finals this semester.

The phone number for ShuttleGus is 912-GSU-RIDE, or 912-478-7433.
