MLK Jr. Essay Contest winners announced

The winners of the inaugural Dr. MLK Jr. Essay Contest were announced last night to the excitement

of many before Andrew Young, the 2014 MLK Speaker, spoke at the Performing Arts Center. All were

recognized during the event by the Multicultural Student Center. They were each asked to stand as

their names were called out. Then the first place winner’s name was read aloud and met with a roar of

cheers and claps from the audience. 1st place was Houston Littlejohn who received a Galaxy Tablet and

a plague. The 2nd place winner was Sheila Francois who received a $100 gift card. The 3rd place winner

was Abiola Oloyede who received a $75 gift card. They all were also invited to dine with Andrew Young

at the MLK Speaker Dinner. All of their essays are supposed to be posted to the Multicultural Student

Center and the Georgia Southern University website in the near future.
