Statesboro residents made history today as they elected Jan Moore as the new mayor.

Earning over 52 percent of the votes, Moore became the first female mayor of Statesboro by defeating opponent Jonathan McCollar in the runoff election.

Moore’s campaign focused on the revitalization of South Main Street and downtown Statesboro.

Moore will hold a four-year term as city mayor.
