Six new faces will be in blue and white for the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team for the 2014-2015 season.

The Eagles signed four guards and two forwards during the early period to sign a national letter of intent that began on Wednesday Nov. 13.

The list includes guard Jakayvea Akins, forward Sierra Butler, guard Alexis Foulks, guard Trellanie English-Lurry, forward Jessica Mlaska and guard Abby Hix.

Head Coach Chris Vozab believes this is a big positive for GSU after an 8-23 record last year and a 0-2 start to the 2013 season.

“These future Eagles bring the ability to score in different ways, and they increase our athleticism, which will enable us to do some more things defensively and to continue to develop the ability to play at a faster pace,” Vozab said in a news release.

The 2014 class includes three players from Georgia, one player from Florida, one from South Carolina and one from Missouri.

“We are thrilled about this class as these young ladies complement each other on the court and will mesh well with the culture we are building,” Vozab said.
