It was a thrilling Senior Day for the Georgia Southern University women’s soccer team (2-8-2, SoCon 3-3-1) as they bested the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (8-6-1, SoCon 3-2-2) on a late score 1-0.

The Eagles and Spartans battled for ball control most of the game. At half time, GSU had zero shots on goal and UNCG had one.

After the half, both teams picked up offensively but the defenses stood tall, rejecting shot after shot. In the 78th minute, sophomore forward Nora El-Shami took a corner kick and bent the ball into the goal for the only score of the contest.

El-Shami was pleased with the performance of her team on senior day. ”I think we played great as a team, we wanted to win for our seniors,” El-Shami said.
