Georgia Southern University’s volleyball team defeated Kennesaw State University 3-0 [25-12, 25-17, 25-17] in its final match to win the Magnolia Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Eagles held Kennesaw State to a .018 hitting percentage and finished their second tournament of the season at 3-0.

“Defensively, we made some positive strides this weekend,” Georgia Southern first-year coach Dustin Wood said in a news release. “We executed different blocking schemes we’ve been working on, and we started blocking very well, which made our back row defense even better. We touched a lot of balls, which allowed our transition game to execute at a high level this weekend.”

Sophomore right side Katie Bange tallied 10 kills and five blocks, and sophomore middle Crysten Curry led GSU in assists with seven.

Cierra Royster led the Owls with 10 kills.

The team will play its first home game of the season on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the University of Georgia in Hanner Fieldhouse.
