The Jacksonville University Dolphins scored two late goals to defeat the Georgia Southern University women’s soccer team tonight 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles struck first on a goal from sophomore midfielder Cori Dulmage in the 52nd minute. The goal was Dulmage’s first of the season.

The Eagles looked poised for a 1-0 victory when JU junior midfielder Jessica Cataldo-Ramirez scored in the 84th minute for the Dolphins to tie the game at 1-1.

Sophomore midfielder Sarah Moghadas quickly added another goal in the 86th minute to give the Dolphins a 2-1 edge that would stand as the final score.

“We showed good composure through 80 minutes, but the breakdowns in the final minutes hurt us on the scoreboard,” head coach Brian Dunleavy said in a news release. “We did a lot of things right tonight and sometimes results hide progress.”

The Eagles will look to bounce back against Charleston Southern University at 6 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Field.
