Georgia Southern University men’s soccer team dropped a close one on the road against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Duke University tonight 1-0.

The Eagles were looking to bounce back and be above .500 for the first time this season.

The first half was relatively quiet, as both teams were held scoreless; but early in the game sophomore defender Reed Norton was booked with a yellow card.

The Blue Devils took advantage in the 50th minute with a score from junior forward Nick Palodichuk after a cross from sophomore midfielder Zach Mathers found it’s way into the six-yard box and found the back of the net.

With the pressure of a result hanging in the balance, GSU set out and began to attack, however Blue Devil senior goalkeeper Alex Long nullified their efforts.

GSU had more shots on goal (8-7) but they were outshot by a tally of 22-13.

The Eagles continue their road trip on Friday as they take on Stetson University.
