The Georgia Southern University Staff Council held a town meeting yesterday to address employee concerns.

The Staff Council is working to make the GSU campus tobacco-free.

The current GSU policy on smoking prohibits smoking in all campus buildings.

The Faculty Senate discussed establishing a tobacco-free campus in April where America Minc, CRI director and staff council member, discussed the results of a survey regarding campus-wide tobacco policies.

The Council is working with the Faculty Senate to promote awareness of the effects of using tobacco.

The Council also discussed vacant positions, employee wellness and health benefits.
