Georgia Southern University’s women’s tennis team downed conference foe Western Carolina University today 6-1, and pushed its record to 9-11, in the last regular season match of the season.

The outcome of this match was no surprise. This win was the 26th straight win against the Catamounts who have never been able to defeat the GSU.

GSU dominated the entire day winning each competition. Both doubles matches were won 8-4 and started with Garrido and Philips Smith. Then the following win came from Maffet and Woods.

Singles play was in Eagles control from the start. The only loss came by default when GSU head coach Amy Bonner removed Natalie Maffet from her singles match against Shannon Bettiol.

Next up for the Eagles is the SoCoN tournement which starts April 18.

GSU needed today’s morale boosting win as they will end the regular season in the No. 7 spot of the conference.
