Catamounts extend Eagles losing streak

Western Carolina University accounted for seven runs in the second inning to take the series opener from the Georgia Southern University baseball team 9-3, extending their losing streak to six games.

All nine runs for the Catamounts occurred on senior pitcher Justin Hess’ watch as he allowed nine runs, only two earned, over 5.2 innings of play. Hess also managed to strike out ten batters.

Catamounts’ starting pitcher Jeremy Null (4-2) recorded a career high 14 strikeouts while picking up the win after dealing for eight innings allowing only three runs.

Senior first basemen T.D. Davis blasted a home run in the first inning but the Eagles were unable to continue with that offensive boost.
