Fashion designer and Georgia Southern University alumna Emily Bargeron will have her work displayed this weekend at the Savannah Independent Designers Showcase.
Dollhouse Productions will house the Savannah Independent Designers Showcase this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Savannah Independent Designers showcase is a runway show and showcase featuring several local designers’, leather makers’ and jewelry makers’ latest and upcoming collections. Attendees will be able to browse tables and booths featuring these designers’ pieces and purchase select items.
A number of local designers have been selected to show their latest collections at SID. One of whom, Bargeron, is a GSU alumna and designer of Mamie Ruth fashion line.
Bargeron at GSU designed the Mamie Ruth fashion line.
“Mamie Ruth is a free-spirited, bohemian inspired brand. I design clothes that make you want to take off your shoes and dance to the beat of your own drum,” Bargeron, Savannah fashion designer, said.
Bargeron will be showing her Fall 2013 Mamie Ruth collection at SID. She describes her inspiration behind the fall collection as coming from the beauty of the unknown. It features galactic prints, deep jewel tones, fringe, velvet, suede and sequins.
“It is very different from my past collections, but it has the same bohemian flare,” Bargeron said.
April Johnston, a local Savannah designer, also had a hand in the production of this event.
Johnston was featured on the television program “Project Runway” and has teamed up with Blake Olmstead-Mavrogeorgis, who is in charge of Dollhouse PR to establish the first SID Showcase.
“Blake and I have wanted to merge our talents together ever since we met. I have been in Savannah for seven years now and have been working at getting an event for local designers established for the last three years. I am thankful to have met Blake because of her drive and her professional background in NYC fashion industry,” April Johnston, Savannah fashion designer, said.
Attendees can expect to see leather, crushed velvet, black, unique prints, splashes of spring and summer pieces at the showcase that can eventually be added to their wardrobe.
