The Georgia Southern University softball team got blanked on the scoreboard 8-0 by the Georgia State Panthers in the first game of a double header.

GSU went hitless as three Eagle pitchers gave up a combined 13 hits.  Senior first baseman Tabby Douberly and third baseman Andrea Tarashuk could not ignite the offense as the team struggled.

Sophomore starting pitcher Brooke Red gave up five earned runs while sophomore pitcher Marla Thompson surrendered three.

Both teams were coming off losses, but GA State was able to take advantage of the Eagles pitching.

Game two kicks off at 6:00 p.m. as GSU looks to avoid a sweep.
