One run on four hits left the door open for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to steal a 2-1 victory from the Georgia Southern University softball team at home.

The victory means GSU and UNCG are once again deadlocked for third place in the Southern Conference going into tomorrow’s 1:00p.m. rubber match.

The second game of the double header on April 27 saw UNCG squeak by GSU thanks to the eighth inning effort by UNCG junior left fielder Aisha Figueroa.

Figueroa hit a single passed the outstretched glove of junior short stop Kourtny Thomas and proceeded to steal second base.

With her teammate in scoring position UNCG freshman catcher knocked an RBI single to left field to drive home the go ahead run.

Sophomore pitcher Brooke Red pitched eight innings of two run ball, but her teammates could not give her some run support.

The stage is now set for a winner takes over third place game at Eagle Field on April 28.
