Cold bats spell loss for Eagles

The Georgia Southern University softball team got blanked at home tonight 2-0 by Florida International University.

The recipe for disaster, strike out 10 times while recording just two hits. The offense went cold on a chilli night at Eagle Field.

Junior pitcher Sarah Purvis only gave up four hits, but one of those hits was a two run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Purvis would settle in nicely as FIU would not cross home plate again, but FIU freshman pitcher Corinne Jenkins stole the show.

Jenkins struck out 10 Eagles and walked just one batter on the night. She pounded the inside corner of the plate and GSU could not catch up to her fastball.

GSU will play Kennesaw State University tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. as the team tries to push its’ record to 9-8.
