Neither the cold weather or the Jacksonville University Dolphins could stop Georgia Southern University’s softball team from evening its record at 10-10 with a 9-5 win.

Senior outfielder Alexa Lewis led the Eagles going 3-4 with a solo home run.  Her teammates stepped up and matched her effort as GSU got nine hits off JU freshman pitchers Cecile Gomez and Victoria Brown.

JU did give the Eagles a scare in the top of the fifth inning when senior catcher Sarah Simon sent a pitch screaming over the right field fence.  The home run brought the score to 6-5, but JU would get no closer.

A three run bottom of the fifth gave GSU all the cushion it needed as junior pitcher Allie Miles sealed the game from the pitcher’s circle.

First pitch for part two of the double header against JU is set for 7:00p.m.
