Ferguson receives honors

For the third time in junior forward Eric Ferguson’s career, he earned All-Southern Conference Third Team honors by the Southern Conference Sports Media Association.

This is not Ferguson’s only achievement this season. He was also named SoCon December Player of the Month, as well as reaching 1,000 career points. Just this season, Ferguson has posted 427 points, 50 steals, 26 blocks, 34 assists, and 196 rebounds. Per game, he is averaging 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds. From the field, Ferguson is shooting 47.6 percent, and, from behind the arc, he is shooting 32.8 percent.

Posting excellent numbers on both defense and offense, Ferguson has the team high of five double-doubles.

Ferguson performed in games that were very tough for the Eagles, such as, the game against Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In this game, Ferguson earned his tenth double-double in his career with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Also, in the Eagles overtime game against Georgia State University; Ferguson posted 24 points, six of those in the final 90 seconds of the game, and a three-pointer that took the game into overtime.

Ferguson and the Eagles will play again in the 2013 Southern Conference Tournament on Friday, March 8 against Wofford College at 11:30 a.m.
