Georgia Southern University’s men’s basketball team (9-13) returns back home to play the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (8-13) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

GSU is coming off of a three game road swing against three big conference teams and, the final game against Furman University resulted in a loss yesterday. UTC is currently on their three game road swing and, has already lost to Elon University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Eagles have the home court advantage on their side but, they are also going up against a team who has had six days rest in between games.

These two teams are very close, not only in their records, but, also in their lead players. For the Eagles, junior forward Eric Ferguson is leading the team in several areas; he has 311 points, 159 rebounds, 39 steals, and 23 blocks. For the Mocs, junior forward Z. Mason has 301 points, 160 rebounds, 19 steals, and 21 blocks.

When comparing the conference games between both of these teams, very few match up. UTC lost to College of Charleston and Western Carolina University but, GSU defeated both of these teams. The Eagles lost to Appalachian State University and The Citadel but, the Mocs defeated both of these teams.

The Eagles might have some extra momentum during this game at home because, prior to their game, the Lady Eagles will start off the double-header at Hanner Fieldhouse on Saturday. Also, during halftime of their game, invited alumni will be recognized, including two former players and a former coach.

GSU will continue to play at home against ASU, once again, on Thursday, Feb. 7th at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Feb. 9 against WCU.
