GSU wins at Wofford

The Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team was too much for Wofford College and beat the Terriers 68-59.

Sophomore guard Anna Claire Knight led the Eagles to victory with 24 points on 9-14 shooting from the field.

The Eagles dropped Wofford for the second time this season, and made the Terriers home fans witness senior guard Meredyth Frye score her 1,000 career point. Frye’s 17 points were second best for the Eagles.

GSU had one of its better shooting performances today knocking down seven of its 16 three point attempts. The Eagles out shot WC 44 percent to 20 percent from beyond the arc.

The Eagles won the rebounding battle 43-32 despite 10 rebounds from WC senior forward Daniella Motley. The second leading rebounder in the Southern Conference also put up 22 points and two blocked shots in the loss.

Monday at 7 p.m. the ladies will have a chance to avenge a 56-42 loss at the hands of the Furman University Paladins.
