Cougars steal win at Hanner Fieldhouse

The slimmest of margins separated the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team from a victory over the College of Charleston Cougars with GSU going down 65-60.

The Eagles controlled the majority of the game but in crunch time the ladies let a sure victory slip away.

Early in the game we controlled the boards. We were ripping away loose rebounds, but too many times down the stretch we failed to rip the ball away,” said head coach Chris Vozab.

GSU had the game in hand, but a 10-3 run down the stretch cost Vozab’s squad a much needed win over a conference opponent.

Junior forward Danielle Spencer had her best game of the season putting up 15 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to propel the Eagles to victory.

GSU has to get over this loss because Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. the team will get it on with the Western Carolina Catamounts in North Carolina.
