Winning was the order of the day as the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team followed the men’s victory with a 63-56 win against the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Spartans.

GSU put together consecutive winning efforts for the first time all season, and this time the Eagles did not need a buzzer beater to seal the win.

GSU held the lead for the final 12 minutes of the game on the strength of the bench. Junior forward Danielle Spencer scored a career high 14 points off the bench while shooting 60 percent from the field.

Junior guard Mimi DuBose led the team in scoring with 21 points and she was the only starter in double figures. Senior guard Meredyth Frye just missed joining DuBose in double figures with 9 points.

The Eagles will look to continue the momentum on the road against the Elon University Phoenix on Monday.
