Georgia Southern University’s men’s basketball team was defeated by The Citadel 70-55 in their third home conference game of the week.

The Eagles started out strong in the first half especially with rebounding and defending the ball. In the first half, the Eagles had nine offensive rebounds, seven defensive rebounds, and four steals. But, the Bulldogs were out shooting us from the field and from behind the arc, which, in turn, allowed the Bulldogs to take the lead 31-22.

With the Bulldogs on top, the Eagles struggled to remain momentum and take back the lead they had in the first half. In the end, it came down to which team was performing on the offensive side and The Citadel out shot GSU from the field by 24.3% and behind the arc by 27%. Senior guard C.J. Reed led the Eagles offense with 13 points and three assists.

The Eagles will be back on the road this Thursday to face Appalachian State University at 7 p.m. in Boone, NC.
