Former Eagle soars into professional career

Former Georgia Southern University men’s basketball guard Willie Powers is playing professionally for BC Prievidza in Slovakia, the defending Slovakian League Champions.

Powers is averaging 13 points, dishing out six assist and getting two steals per game in his first two games with the team. Powers is shooting an efficient 53.3 percent from the field and 60 percent from behind the arc.

BC Prievidza is undefeated since Powers has joined the team and 10-9 overall. The team is now averaging 92 points per game with Powers playing.

Powers played four years at GSU and averaged 12.58 points, four assists and shot 44.7 percent from the field.

Powers, 23, hails from Gainesville Fl. where he attended Yonge High School.
