Eagles mount Western Carolina

Georgia Southern University men’s basketball team set personal career-highs on the way to victory against Western Carolina University 72-66, preventing a three-game losing streak.

The Eagles were led in scoring by junior forward Eric Ferguson with 18 points. Senior forward Cameron Baskerville set a career-high with 14 points, 13 of which came in the first half.

Senior guard C.J. Reed set a career high in assists with 11 as the guard reached 500 career assists. Reed also scored seven points.

Freshmen guard Cleon Roberts scored 13 points and junior guard Tre Bussey came off the bench to add 11 points.

After battling back and forth for the lead in the first half, the Eagles trailed 37-36 at halftime.

The Eagles began the second half with a 7-2 run and never looked back as they flew to victory.

GSU’s next game will be on the road against rival Furman University on Thursday 7 p.m.
