Despite 23 points from forward Eric Ferguson, Georgia Southern University men’s basketball team falls to the Samford University Bulldogs 57-48.

The Eagles opened the game with a 12-8 run; 10 points came from Ferguson making all four of his field goal attempts.

The score was tied 26 all at halftime. C.J. Reed and Ferguson combined for 19 of 26 GSU points.

In a similar recurrence of what happened when the Eagles matched up against Elon University this past Wednesday, the Eagles were held scoreless from the 14 minute 38 second mark of the half until six minutes and 37 seconds to go.

After eight minutes of being held scoreless, two free throws from Ferguson shortened the Bulldogs lead to 40-36.

The Bulldogs scored 31 points in the second half led by Tim Williams with 18 points and 11 points from both Raijon Kelly and Clide Geffrard.

The Eagles are now 0-2 in SoCon conference play this season.

GSU will play again one week from now against Brewton-Parker College at Hanner Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
