Vozab recruits three new Eagles

Today Georgia Southern University women’s basketball coach Chris Vozab got three members of her inaugural recruiting class to sign National Letters of Intent to play next season.

The signing of guards Angel McGowan from South Carolina and Danielle Roberts from New Jersey, as well as forward Jessica Marcus from North Carolina are an indicator of what direction Vozab wants to take the team.

Marcus at six feet tall is a physical presence in the post with an improving skill set.  She averaged 10.5 points and 14 rebounds a game during her junior year at Phillip O. Berry Academy.

McGowan has the ability to play both guard spots and the small forward position at 5-foot-9.  Her numbers reflect her versatility averaging 14.4 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals a game.

Roberts was able to post averages of 10.2 points 5.6 assists, and 3.7 rebounds a game her junior year.  Her play making ability helped lead her high school team to its first conference championship in 36 years.

Not to be forgotten in the first recruiting class of the Vozab era is sophomore Briana Jones.  She is currently sitting out this year after transferring from James Madison University in the summer.

With new talent in the fold for next year the future of GSU’s women’s basketball program is starting to take shape.
