Georgia Southern University men’s basketball team fell to the University of Maryland Terrapins 70-53 tonight bringing the Eagles to a 2-3 record overall.
The Eagles were trailing by three points going into halftime, but were unable to up the momentum and lost with a 17-point deficit.
Senior guard C.J. Reed led GSU with 15 points with a pair of three-pointers and two assists. This was his best performance so far as an Eagle. Junior forward Eric Ferguson and Reed shared a team-high rebounding honor at five boards in the game.
The Terrapins had four scorers in double-figures with freshman forward Charles Mitchell leading the pack with 13 points.
Junior guard Tre Bussey also added three three-pointers for the Eagles to finish the game with 11 points. GSU forced the Terrapins into 17 turnovers, which were converted into 23 Eagle points.
GSU will return home to open Southern Conference play on Wednesday against Elon University on at 7 p.m.
