Eagles score first win of season

Georgia Southern University men’s basketball team wins big against the Webber International University Warriors 87-64 for the first home game of the season.

The Eagles were led by junior forward Eric Ferguson who scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. All Eagle starters scored in double figures for the first time since 2010.

The Warriors were led by Brian Pace who scored 16 points for his team before fouling out with less than seven minutes left in the game.

The Eagles struggled in the first half, where they only led by three with a score of 45-42. The Eagles came out gunning for WIU in the second half where they outscored the Warriors 44-22 the entire half.

Head coach Charlton Young said he was glad to get his first win but that in order to be successful the Eagles must play a complete 40 minutes in a game.

GSU’s next game is Nov. 21 away against Kennesaw State University at 7 p.m.
