This past weekend, the Georgia Southern University women’s club lacrosse team hit the road to participate in the Southern Comfort Lacrosse Tournament hosted by Clemson University.

GSU women’s lax played among the 13 teams that participated in the two day tournament. The Eagles did not win any of their games.

“We improved from our first game to our last game by showing teamwork,” said Captain Colleen Tarrant.

On Saturday, the Eagles played three games. The first game was against the Converse College Valkyries, the second game was against Emory University, and for their third game, the Eagles faced Clemson University.

The Eagles fell against Converse College 11-1. In their game against Emory, the Eagles lost 14-6. When the GSU played the tournament hosts, Clemson, the Eagles were defeated 13-3.

“The girls fought hard and played with a lot of heart out there against big name teams know for their lacrosse programs,” said Coach Katelyn Carroll

After the round robin tournament on Saturday, the teams play a single elimination tournament on Sunday. After leading the first half, the Eagles were eliminated by the No.2 seed, the University of North Carolina. The final score was 15-1.

“The girls had a strong performance and really proved to the rest of the conference that they were a tough team,” said Coach Ryan Ramsey.
