Georgia Southern Men’s soccer team (2-7) dropped a close one Wednesday night to Presbyterian College (2-7) by a score of 3-2.

The Blue Hose went up in the 15th minute when Sophomore Midfielder Ignacio Monchetti scored off a free kick that curled in on the left side of the box.

With eight minutes left in the half GSU found an equalizer, when Freshman Defender Reed Norton found Sophomore Midfielder David Vargas Masis who chipped it over the keeper’s head for his first goal of the season.

GSU pulled ahead in the 59th minute when Sophomore Midfielder Chase Park made a sliding put back after Junior Midfielder Hunter Norton’s shot was blocked.

PC evened the score line five minutes later with Byron Quinatoa crossed the ball into the box to Nico Fazio who found the back of the net.

The final goal of the game came in the 80th minute off an own goal from GSU when the Eagles keeper was out of position and a slow shot went on goal only to have a GSU defender take a miss touch on the ball and roll into the goal.

The loss drops the Eagles to 2-7 and extends their losing streak to six games on the season. GSU goes on the road to take on nationally ranked no.3 North Carolina next Tuesday.
