During the Georgia Southern University versus Samford University game, both teams experienced crucial turnovers including fumbles and interceptions.
In the first quarter, both teams were able to keep a handle on the ball which resulted in a turnover-free quarter.
However in the second quarter, both teams recorded one interception and the Eagles fumbled once.
In the second quarter the Bulldogs were able to pick off one of junior quarterback Jerick McKinnon’s passes and returned it for ten yards.
Shortly after Samford took over, the Eagles answered back with an interception of their own. With 4:09 left on the clock, junior corner back Levelle Westbrooks intercepted from Samford quarterback Andy Summerlin for a 72-yard touchdown.
On the other hand, the Eagles did fumble late in the second quarter. With the field wet from the rain, junior quarterback Jerick McKinnon fumbled the ball on a snap, but was able to quickly jump on top of it to regain possession.
In the third quarter, the Eagles let two more balls slip out of their hands and lost possession once while the Bulldog offense still managed to keep their ball handles together. Samford did not record any fumbles in the third quarter but did once in the fourth.
