It is engineering week on Georgia Southern’s campus. NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) have partnered up to provide fun engineering activities to the community everyday this week.

Today they have popsicle sticks, rubber bands and tape challenging people to build whatever their imagination comes up with.

“[NSBE] is very helpful when it comes to our members career-wise and with resumes,” Tiara Samples, senior and secretary of NSBE, said.

Membership for NSBE is for any student studying science, technology, engineering or math, but other majors can become affiliate members. NSBE meets every other Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Nursing and Chemistry building room 1002.

“I like that you not only volunteer, but you are able to be around people with common goals,” Charles Bares, sophomore and NSBE member, said.

IEEE members need to be studying engineering or technology part time and the organization focuses on the advancement of technology. IEEE meets every other Wednesday at 7:00 p.m..
