It’s pageant season ladies and gentlemen! The next upcoming pageant is the Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant presented by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. The pageant features a swimwear, evening wear, interview and talent section. The pageant takes place March 29 in the Russell Union Ballroom at 7:06 p.m.
Representatives in the pageant are out at the Rotunda today and are collecting votes for Miss Photogenic. Each contestant has their own jar and people can put money in it to count for votes. One penny equals one vote and one dollar equals 100 votes. Students can also vote using likes on social media using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
“The money is going back to the chapter for the next scholarship pageant. So, it’s all adding up to the scholarship for next year,” Nyra Simmons, contestant #8 in the MissBlack and Gold Pageant, said.
Tickets to the Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant are on sale now. Five dollars for advance tickets and seven dollars for VIP. At the door, ticket prices rise to seven dollars for general admission, and 10 dollars for VIP.
