Georgia Southern adds cornerback transfer to class of 2020

Georgia Southern received its first verbal commitment for the 2020 recruiting class with Braylon Peterson, a transfer from Georgia Military College, verbally committing via Twitter Wednesday.

At GMC, Peterson made seven solo tackles as a cornerback and picked up an interception on defense. On special teams, he averaged 45 yards per game as a punt specialist in his freshman campaign.

Peterson, a native of Anderson, South Carolina, was a multisport athlete in high school, participating in varsity basketball, track and baseball in addition to football.

His senior year of high school, he was honored as the I-AAAAA All-District Player of the Year, while finishing with 875 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.

He recorded a 23.20 200 meter dash his junior season at the Upstate Tri County Championship and finished second at the SCHSL Region 1-AAAAA with a PR long jump of 20 ’2.5. He was a part of the region champion 4×400 relay team, which put up a time of 3:30.12.

Peterson will complete his second year of eligibility at GMC before playing in Statesboro next fall.
