STATESBORO — In a Friday morning email sent to students, faculty and staff, Georgia Southern officials asks campus community to follow CDC travel guidelines if traveling and encourages a Statesboro stay-cation.
“You and your travel companions (including children) may spread COVID-19 to other people,” GS said. “This holiday weekend might be a good time for a “stay-cation” and we are encouraging all students to stay on-campus instead of taking the opportunity of a long weekend to travel.”
GS officials provided a list of seven things the campus community could do if they’re staying in town:
GS’ botanical garden (Statesboro campus)
Local state parks
GS’ golf course (Statesboro campus)
Veterans Memorial Walk in Hinesville
GS’ recreational facilities (Statesboro and Armstrong campuses)
Drive-in movies in Jesup or Beaufort, SC
GS’ shooting range (Statesboro campus)
“No matter what you do for the weekend, plan it safely,” GS said. “Use this holiday break to practice self-care and re-energize yourself for the remainder of fall semester.”
