On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Armstrong Pirates men’s and women’s basketball teams will play the annual exhibition match against cross-town opponent Savannah State in the Battle of the Marsh to kick off the 2015-16 season.
The game will be held at Savannah State’s Tiger Arena with tip off times of 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men. Pirate fans will be able to travel from campus to Tiger Arena via fan bus as well as get into the game for free with a valid Pirate Card ID.
The women seek to avenge a 96-84 loss to the Lady Tigers from last season. The game was only separated by four points at halftime and the Lady Tigers came out strong, going on to a 22-8 run just five minutes into the second half.
The men fell to the Tigers 66-51 in the annual rivalry game. The Pirates trailed by only four late in the second half before the Tigers went on a 10-1 run that the team could not overcome.
