The Board of Regents approved the merge of Armstrong State and Georgia Southern University at a meeting Jan. 11. Despite protest from students, faculty and alumni, the change will be in effect by 2018.
Both institutions will be named Georgia Southern University, creating the fourth largest university in the state.
