Senior football nose tackle Ian Bush has been granted a sixth year of eligibility following the the NCAA’s approval of a “medical hardship waiver.”

Bush, a former Florida All-State star out of Port Charlotte managed to appear in only five games through his first three years of eligibility.

Bush will once again look to play a key role in the center of defensive coordinator Scott Sloan’s 3-4 defense. As a key contributor and occasional starter for an Eagle defense ranking 27th nationally in points allowed, he accumulated 28 tackles, three tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble.

Bush will be expected to back up rising senior Ty Phillips or sophomore CJ Wright, who earned his way onto the field as a talented true freshman last season and gained national attention as a ball carrier against Clemson last season.
