Eagles to take on top-ranked Sun Belt opponent at home

Coming off a close loss to the University of Texas at Arlington, the Eagles look to redeem themselves as they take on the first-ranked team in the conference Saturday.

Georgia Southern is currently ranked at fifth in the conference and a win over No. One Texas State would do a lot for their 4-3 conference record as well as their standing.

While it will be challenging, it will not be impossible. The Eagles have shown to be impressive this season, shooting a combined average of 50 percent from the floor as well as shooting 66.3 percent in three-pointers.

Senior guard Tookie Brown is unsurprisingly leading the Eagles with a field goal percentage of 50.6 and totaling at 336 points on the season in the 682 minutes he’s played. Redshirt-sophomore guard Quan Jackson is another that continues to impress as he’s collected a total of 42 steals this 2018-19 season along with shooting 73.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Defensively the Eagles owe a lot to senior forward Montae Glenn who’s logged a total 119 total rebounds and 18 blocks in the 417 minutes he’s played.

The Eagles look good, but TXST will prove to be a challenging opponent as they’ve averaged a field goal percentage of 46.8 percent on the season as well as a 65.5 percent three-pointer average.

The Bobcats are sitting at an overall record of 17-3 and a conference record of 6-1 with the help from leading player Nijal Pearson. Pearson has started and played in every game so far this season, logging 629 minutes total and adding 376 points- averaging 18.8 a game.

The match it set to take place at Hanner Field House, Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and will be streamed on TrueBlue Live TV.
