Sunday began a ‘Week of Action’ for petitioners calling for the release of a young Statesboro man from the Bulloch County Jail who received murder charges from a road rage incident that happened last summer.
Supporters held a rally at the Statesboro Courthouse for Marc Wilson Tuesday where his sister, Chelsea Burnett and others spoke and called for Wilson’s release on bond.
Wilson’s charges come from an incident last June when he fired a warning shot at another car that he said harassed him with racial slurs and tried to run him off the road.
The bullet from the warning shot found Haley Hutcheson seated in the back of the truck who died shortly after.
Wilson responded to Statesboro Police Department warrants and turned himself in a few days later, and he was arrested and put in Bulloch County Jail where he awaits a trial.
Wilson was denied bail by Judge Muldrew in August.
The next rally will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Pavillion. A list of the other events planned and more information can be found on the Justice for Marc Facebook page.
