Drug arrests have decreased while reports of rape and burglary have increased in 2017.
According to Georgia Southern’s annual security and fire safety report, drug arrests have gone down on campus since 2015, while reports of rape and burglary have gone up.
According to the Clery Log report, a burglary is defined as when someone unlawfully breaks into a structure in order to commit a felony or a theft.
There were a total of five burglaries in 2015, but this number went down to one in 2016 and finally increased to four in 2017.
Drug Law Arrests
According to the report, the amount of drug law arrests increased by 32 between 2015 and 2016 but decreased by 17 in 2017.
Reported cases of rape decreased slightly, from four cases in 2015 to three cases in 2016, but they later increased to eight cases in 2017.
