Hats bearing Edwin Jackson’s intials and number are being sold by the Georgia Southern Athletics Department.

The hats are currently available at the Southern Exchange Company for $22.50. A percentage of the proceeds will go to The Edwin Jackson 53 Foundation.

The foundation helps walk-on student athletes gain opportunities through community service, after-school programs and fitness camps for disadvantaged youth.

Football staff members have been wearing the EJ #40 icon on their hats during games in honor of Edwin Jackson, a former GS football player who was killed by a drunk driver Feb. 4.

Eagle football players have also been sporting the logo as a sticker on their helmets to honor Jackson’s legacy.

Head football coach Chad Lunsford said in a press release, “Edwin left his mark on Georgia Southern with his work ethic and personality, and we all mourn his loss. “We’ve kept his memory alive by naming our walk-on tryouts in his honor and will also be making a difference by being able to donate to the foundation he was so passionate about.”
