Junior cornerback Monquavion Brinson was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in the 48-13 win against South Alabama Saturday.

Brinson put on a secondary clinic against the Jaguars with seven tackles and an interception that he returned to the six yard line. This was Brinson’s third game with seven or more tackles, his highest being last week against Arkansas State where he had 11.

Brinson is the third Eagle to win this honor this season, joining senior inside linebacker Tomarcio Reese and senior defensive end Logan Hunt.

Louisiana’s Elijah Mitchell was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for his 191 rushing yards against Texas State.
