  • It may have been April fools, but this first Friday in April held more than just jokes.

  • An art festival was held downtown featuring all kinds of vendors.

  • Art was on display, as well as for sale, by local artists and the businesses that hosted them.

  • Under the theater lights, handcrafted bowls that came with a free scoop of chili with purchase were being sold.

  • Local musicians played for the crowds as they walked around downtown.

  • The event lasted from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, beginning on the courthouse lawn, but extending down main street.

  • Paintings were not the only merchandise being sold.

  • Things like jewelry, dog bandanas, honey, and candles were also spread throughout the courthouse lawn.

  • Statesboro locals walked tent to tent appreciating and buying art and other items from vendors.

  • New Covenant Church had people spinning a wheel to earn a prize and other vendors sold cross necklaces.

  • Barbecue sandwiches were being sold for $5 and being cooked on a grill parked near the clubhouse.

  • Even The Garage, a downtown gym, got in on the action and hosted art by students from South East Bulloch Middle School.

  • Unique art lined the streets. You never knew what you would see next.

  • Statesboro’s First Friday Downtown events should continue through the year. See you on May 6th!
