The Eagles will face the Badgers for the first time in football in 2023, the program announced Thursday afternoon.

The Sept. 16 match-up with Wisconsin is the third Big Ten school scheduled in the next four years for Georgia Southern with the Eagles traveling to Minnesota in 2019 and Nebraska in 2022.

Wisconsin fills in the third open slot in non-conference play for 2023. GS opens the 2023 season at home against UAB for the second-half of the home-and-home series with the Blazers and travels to Ball State to complete that home-and-home series.

This Power Five test is the second game in school history for GS against a Big Ten school. The Eagles only other game was a 52-17 loss at Indiana in 2017.

The Eagles have scheduled seven Power Five contests through 2023 all on the road against Clemson in 2018, LSU in 2019, Ole Miss in 2020 and Arkansas in 2021 to go with the three Big Ten games.

GS has also already penciled in eight non-conference home-and-home series through 2027 against New Mexico State, Boise State, Florida Atlantic, BYU, UAB, Ball State, Liberty, Houston.
