Georgia Southern University’s WINGS service will be inaccessible from 5 p.m. Feb. 16 to 8 a.m. Feb. 26 due to the Banner Big Bang (BBB).

The BBB is a scheduled maintenance window that will ultimately combine the GS banner student information system with Armstrong’s into one functioning banner student information system for the new GS.

Several students like Kenneth Lee, senior journalism major, are frustrated when they saw the notification about the extensive downtime.

“It’s frustrating,” Lee said. “It’s going to be hard to resume student responsibilities if the entire system is down.”

The Banner-related services that will be inaccessible are:

  • Emergency Messaging Options (Alerts can still be sent, but students cannot update contact information)
  • Student Dashboard
  • WINGS
  • Enrollment Certification
  • Course Search
  • MyScholarship
  • Housing Prepayments
  • View/Pay Your Tuition Bill
  • Campus Carry Information
  • Parking Permits & Citations
  • Spring Dining Plans & EagleExpress Packages

If services are restored ahead of schedule, these changes will be reflected in the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal, Chief Information Officer for IT Services Ron Stalnaker said.
