Georgia Southern Women’s tennis moves their record to 8-1 after their 5-2 win over the College of Charleston.
The Eagles played six players split into teams of two to play their doubles matches. A double’s match is when there are two players on the same side of the court with two players of the opposing team on the other side. The Eagles won all three of their doubles matches.
- Silvia Martinez and Lindsay Tulenko won 6-1
- Ninon Martinache and Sonja Keranen won 6-3
- Mackenzie Leopold and Sophie Wagemaker won 6-4
Players Silvia Martinez, Ninon Martinache and Paula Hijos won their sets in their singles matches.
The women will play next in North Carolina against Davidson on February 24 at 10 a.m.
Georgia Southern Men’s tennis defeated Gardner-Webb in a 4-0 victory.
The Eagles won 2-3 in doubles matches.
- Judson Blair and Pierre Mouesca won 6-3
- Pol del Castillo and Dimitris Paliouras won 7-6
Players Pol del Castillo, Laurent Julia Calac, and Matthew Mitchell defeated their opponents in their singles match.
- “I hope to see a little more consistency in our players, we were there, I think our intentions were in the right place and we have to get used to, no matter what is happening around us there’s a certain standard of toughness and resilience that we bring and when we bring that, we are a really tough team to beat,” said Head Coach Andrew Goodwin.
The men’s tennis will return to the Wallis Tennis Center Friday, February 23 at 1 pm.
