The Office of Diversity and the Office of Multicultural Affairs will host Georgia Southern University’s 2018 Campus Conversation on Diversity Feb. 15.

The event will take place in Russell Union 2080 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Leading the event will be Jasper Artist of the Year Award recipients Al Black and Len Lawson. Black and Lawson will use their Poets Respond to Race platform to engage audiences in tough conversations about race and diversity.

Office of Multicultural Affairs Director Takeshia Brown said the audience can anticipate unique race-related discussions through the use of poetry.

“It will be an opportunity to explore some of the hard conversations in a creative fashion and hopefully make others curious to continue the conversation beyond the event,” Brown said.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit poetry about race to share at the Campus Conversation on Diversity.

Those interested in being a featured poet at the event must submit their works to Associate Provost for Diversity and Faculty Programs Maxine Bryant by 12 p.m. on Feb. 7.
