Main Street Statesboro and the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority will host Stateboro’s first Downtown Date Night Feb. 2.

The event will last from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on West Main Street, and will feature local food and shopping vendors, an outdoor movie sponsored by Party Harbor and the Statesboro Herald, and live jazz music by Brandi Womack Harvey.

Some of the activity vendors attending will be The Jumping Place, Jumpshot Indoor Trampoline Park and Statesboro Unlocked, a local escape room business.

Many businesses will be staying open late and will be offering promotions to couples, including a gift card to a local restaurant to the couple who wins the “Awkward First Date” contest using the hashtag #quirkyborodate.

Downtown Date Night is one of several events the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority plans each month to enhance the quality of life in the Statesboro community, said Office Manager and Marketing Coordinator Elena McLendon.

“These are mostly free events that help boost economic development and increase awareness of our business and services offered in the downtown district,” McLendon said. “Our goal is to have people live, shop, play and dine downtown and overall create a sense of hometown living.”

To prepare for the night, West Main Street will close at 4 p.m on Feb. 2.
